Property listings are the first impression that a buyer will get about your property. Buyers will scroll through many photos and listings. It’s important to make your listing stand out with better looking photos.
While it is not always possible to hire a professional photographer, improve your listings with these tips on how to photograph real estate.
Prepare the property
It is important to prepare the property before you photograph it. Turn on all the lights and open all the curtains and blinds. Remove as much clutter as possible from counters and floors to make the property look cleaner and more valuable.
Use the right settings on your camera
You don’t need a fancy camera to capture your properties. Today’s smartphones come with high quality cameras which makes it easy get good photographs. Avoid using flash and use your camera’s wide angle function to capture as much of the room as possible. For property photography, it is best to take your photos horizontally rather than vertically.
Keep your camera straight and level
Make sure to hold your phone completely upright and not to tilt it forward, backward or to the sides. You can also use a tripod to make sure your phone is positioned correctly every time.

Take multiple photos
Sometimes the first one is blurry. Though you don’t want too many images of the same thing, be sure to capture the main features of the property (kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and exterior). Stand in different positions of the room and see which showcases the room the best.
Edit for the best results
You can do some basic editing right on your smartphone to make your photos look even better. Adjust the brightness and contrast to improve harsh shadows or crop cluttered or unnecessary items from the edges of your photographs.
